Mini louver terminations present a shallow, low profile face rather than a deep projecting hood. The appeal is visual: a flatter termination is less conspicuous on a finished elevation, sits better against siding and trim, and is less likely to be damaged by ladders, equipment, or landscaping close to the wall.

The trade-off is airflow resistance. A shallow louver arrangement generally presents less free area than a deep hood of the same nominal diameter, and every termination imposes resistance that must be accounted for in the fan's available static pressure. On a short, direct duct run this is immaterial; on a long or convoluted run already close to the fan's limit, a restrictive termination can be the difference between adequate ventilation and a system that moves very little air.

The practical check is straightforward: measure airflow at the grille after installation rather than assuming the fan's rated capacity is being delivered.
