The Builder's Best 112486 is a 6 inch heavy gauge galvanised wall vent for exterior termination of exhaust ductwork.

Six inch duct covers a broad range of residential and light commercial ventilation: larger bathroom fans, inline fan installations, range hood exhaust on some systems, and small workshop or utility ventilation.

Termination height and position carry requirements that are easy to overlook. Exhaust terminations must maintain minimum clearances from openable windows, doors, and mechanical air intakes, so that exhausted air is not drawn straight back into the building. On a bathroom or kitchen exhaust the consequence of ignoring this is odour recirculation; on any exhaust it represents a loss of the ventilation the system was installed to provide.

Terminations should also be positioned clear of walkways and entrances, above the expected snow line in cold climates, and away from soffit vents, since exhausting beneath a soffit vent delivers moist air directly into the attic.

Heavy gauge galvanised construction withstands the UV exposure, impact, and weather that eventually defeat lighter terminations, and holds its shape rather than distorting under wind loading.

An integral damper closes the opening when the fan is off and should be checked periodically for free movement.

Applications include residential and light commercial exterior wall exhaust terminations.
