The Builder's Best 111239 is a 10 inch heavy gauge galvanised wall vent, sized for high volume exhaust termination.

Ten inch duct indicates a substantial exhaust duty: commercial kitchen ventilation, workshop and garage exhaust, equipment room ventilation, or a multi-point residential system manifolded to a single large fan.

At this scale, the relationship between exhaust and make-up air becomes a design consideration rather than an afterthought. Exhausting a large volume from a reasonably tight building depressurises it, and that depressurisation has consequences: the fan cannot achieve its rated airflow because it is working against the resulting pressure, outdoor air is drawn in through whatever leakage paths exist including unintended ones, and in buildings with naturally vented combustion appliances the negative pressure can cause backdrafting at a draft hood.

Providing deliberate make-up air, whether through a dedicated intake, an interlocked damper, or simply a suitable opening, resolves all three at once.

Heavy gauge galvanised construction gives the durability a large termination needs, resisting wind loading, impact, and the UV degradation that eventually cracks plastic units.
