The Builder's Best 110861 is an 8 inch louvered flush mount wall vent with a screen, providing an exterior termination for ventilation ductwork.

The flush mount configuration sits close to the wall surface rather than projecting from it, which suits installations where a protruding hood would be visually obtrusive or would conflict with adjacent features such as trim, downpipes, or siding details.

The screen is the specification detail that requires judgement. A screen keeps insects and small animals out of the duct, which is a genuine benefit on a ventilation termination that may sit idle for long periods. On any exhaust carrying lint, however, a screen becomes a lint trap: fibres catch on the mesh, build progressively, and restrict the duct until airflow falls to a fraction of its design value. Clothes dryer exhaust must never terminate through a screened vent for this reason, and kitchen exhaust carrying grease-laden air presents a related problem.
