The DiversiTech SERVICE-BAR-7-S-T is a service valve assembly providing isolation and service access on refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Brazing a valve assembly into a refrigeration circuit requires protection of the valve internals. The seals, seats, and packing inside a service valve are not designed to survive brazing temperatures, and heat conducted along the body from the joint being made will damage them if the work is done carelessly.

Standard practice is to wrap the valve body in a wet cloth or apply a heat absorbing paste, to keep the flame directed at the joint rather than played across the valve, and to complete the joint efficiently rather than lingering. Where the valve design allows disassembly, removing the internal components before brazing eliminates the risk.

Nitrogen purging during brazing is the parallel requirement. Copper heated in the presence of air forms a black oxide scale on the internal surface, and that scale flakes away in service to circulate through the system, where it blocks metering devices and screens and contaminates the compressor. A low flow nitrogen purge through the tube during brazing prevents it forming.

The numeric designation identifies size and configuration within this range.

Confirm connection sizes, valve arrangement, and pressure rating against the system. Pressure test and evacuate thoroughly after installation.
