The DiversiTech EL3640-3 is an E-Lite plastic equipment pad measuring 36 by 40 by 3 inches, providing a rectangular base for larger or deeper equipment cabinets.

The rectangular footprint suits units whose cabinet is deeper than it is wide, and equipment installed where a square pad would encroach on a walkway, a property line, or a planted area. It also provides working space in front of or beside the unit, which is useful where the service access panel faces a confined direction.

Selecting the pad to the actual equipment footprint, with margin on each side, is more important than matching nominal capacity. Cabinet dimensions vary between manufacturers and change between equipment generations, and a changeout that assumes the new unit matches the old frequently finds otherwise.

Overhanging base rails concentrate load at the pad edge, which causes tipping or uneven settlement and takes the unit out of level. Compressor oil return depends on the unit sitting level, so this is a functional matter rather than an aesthetic one.

Ground preparation determines whether level is maintained. Excavate to firm subgrade and bed the pad on compacted gravel; a pad laid on topsoil or sod will settle within the first season.

The pad also elevates the equipment clear of standing water, snow accumulation, mulch, and vegetation.

Applications include residential and light commercial condensing units, heat pumps, and ground mounted mechanical equipment.
