DiversiTech Condenser Pad 30X30X3 EL3030-3

The DiversiTech EL3030-3 is an E-Lite plastic equipment pad measuring 30 by 30 by 3 inches, for supporting outdoor condensing units and heat pumps.

The 30 by 30 inch footprint is one of the most commonly used sizes in residential work, suiting the majority of two to three ton condensing units. Pad selection should be based on the actual unit footprint with a margin on each side, not on the nominal tonnage, since footprints vary considerably between manufacturers and between equipment generations at the same capacity.

Overhang is the error to avoid. A unit whose base rails extend beyond the pad edge concentrates load at the edge, which encourages the pad to tip or the soil beneath the edge to consolidate, and the unit progressively goes out of level. A condenser sitting out of level runs its compressor with compromised oil return, and on a heat pump it also directs defrost condensate the wrong way.

Subgrade preparation is what determines long term performance. Excavating to firm ground and bedding the pad on compacted gravel prevents the settlement that occurs when a pad is simply laid on topsoil or sod.

The pad also raises the equipment above grade, keeping the coil clear of standing water, snow, mulch, and vegetation.

Applications include residential and light commercial condensing units, heat pumps, and ground mounted equipment.
