The DiversiTech EL1838-3 is an E-Lite plastic equipment pad measuring 18 by 38 by 3 inches, providing a level base for outdoor condensing units and similar equipment.

Plastic equipment pads have largely replaced poured concrete and precast slabs for residential condenser support, and the reasons are practical. A pad of this size in plastic weighs a fraction of an equivalent concrete slab, which means one technician can carry and place it rather than two, it can be brought through a gate or around a house without a cart, and it does not crack in handling or in freeze-thaw cycling.

The 18 by 38 inch footprint suits narrower units, including many mini split condensers, smaller condensing units, and equipment installed where lateral space is constrained by a walkway or property line.

Preparation of the ground beneath the pad determines whether the installation stays level. A pad set on unprepared soil settles unevenly as the ground consolidates and as water moves through it, and a condenser out of level runs its compressor with poor oil return. Excavating to firm subgrade and bedding on compacted gravel is what prevents this.

Elevation above grade also matters, keeping the coil clear of standing water, snow accumulation, and the debris and vegetation at ground level.

Applications include residential and light commercial condensing units, heat pumps, mini split condensers, and ground mounted equipment.
