DiversiTech 3 Plastic Pad E-Lite EL4040

The DiversiTech EL4040 is an E-Lite plastic equipment pad measuring 40 by 40 by 3 inches, for large condensing units and light commercial equipment.

A 40 inch square footprint accommodates the largest residential condensers and smaller commercial units, including equipment whose cabinet dimensions have grown with efficiency requirements. It also provides margin for working around the unit during installation and service, which a pad sized exactly to the base rails does not.

The advantage of plastic construction is most apparent at this size. A concrete slab measuring 40 by 40 by 3 inches weighs in the region of several hundred pounds and requires equipment or several people to place; the plastic equivalent is carried and positioned by one technician. On a changeout where access is through a gate or around the side of a house, that difference frequently determines what is practical.

Ground preparation remains the determining factor for long term performance. Excavate to firm subgrade, bed on compacted gravel to the full pad area rather than at the corners, and verify level in both directions once the equipment is set, since the unit's weight will expose any inadequacy in the base.

Elevation above grade keeps the coil clear of standing water, snow, mulch, and vegetation, all of which restrict airflow and accelerate corrosion.

Applications include residential and light commercial condensing units, heat pumps, and ground mounted mechanical equipment.
