The DiversiTech 230-WS2 is a wall sleeve for line set installations, providing a lined passage through an exterior wall.

A sleeve is a section of tube set into the wall opening through which the line set passes. Its value is that it separates the tubing from the wall structure entirely.

Without a sleeve, the line set bears directly against the material it passes through. Where that material is masonry, the abrasive surface will wear through the insulation and eventually the tubing itself, driven by the small movements that thermal cycling and vibration produce. Where the wall is timber framed, the tubing rests against framing and transmits vibration into the structure.

A sleeve also makes future work possible. A line set that must be replaced can be withdrawn through the sleeve and a new one pulled through, rather than requiring the penetration to be opened up again.

The sealing arrangement changes with a sleeve fitted. The sleeve is sealed to the wall, and the annular space between sleeve and line set is sealed separately, usually with a flexible sealant that permits the small movements the tubing makes.

Slope the sleeve slightly downward toward the exterior so that any water entering drains outward.

Confirm the sleeve diameter accommodates the full insulated bundle, and that its length suits the wall thickness.
