DiversiTech Line Set Cover 3" Duct End 230-DE3

The DiversiTech 230-DE3 is a three inch duct end fitting used to terminate a line set cover run at the equipment connection.

Terminations are where line set cover systems most often fail, and the failure is almost always water related. A run of cover that is neatly installed for its full length but left open at the top will collect rainwater, and that water runs down inside the channel, saturates the insulation, and pools at the lowest point.

Wet insulation loses most of its thermal value, and the moisture accelerates corrosion of the tubing and of any fastener inside the run. Where the run terminates indoors, water tracking down the channel can reach the interior wall cavity.

A properly formed termination closes the end of the channel and directs water away, providing a finished transition from the cover to the equipment or the wall penetration.

The detail worth attention is the overlap direction. Every joint in a vertical or sloped run should be arranged so the upper piece sits outside the lower, shedding water over the joint rather than allowing it to enter. This is the same principle as roof flashing, and it is routinely got wrong.

Confirm the fitting size matches the channel in use. Seal terminations with a sealant compatible with the cover material, and check the completed run for gaps at every fitting.
