DiversiTech Line Set Cover 3" Wallpenetrate 230-WC3

The DiversiTech 230-WC3 is a three inch wall penetration cover used where a line set passes through an exterior wall.

The wall penetration is the single most important detail in a line set installation and the one most often executed poorly. It is a hole through the building envelope, and everything that makes a building envelope work depends on that hole being properly closed.

Three separate things must be addressed. Water must be prevented from entering, which requires the penetration to be sloped or sealed so that rain running down the wall cannot track inward along the tubing. Air infiltration must be stopped, since an unsealed penetration is a direct path between conditioned interior and outdoor air, and it will be a source of drafts and energy loss for the life of the building. And pests must be excluded, because a gap around a line set is an established entry route for insects and rodents.

A penetration cover provides the finished exterior detail. It does not by itself seal the opening, and the sealing must be done properly behind it with an appropriate sealant or foam.

Where the wall assembly includes a drainage plane or weather barrier, the penetration should be detailed to maintain it.

Confirm the cover size suits the channel and the opening. Slope the penetration slightly downward toward the exterior so any water that enters drains outward.
