The Century A.O. Smith 9722 is a multi-horsepower condenser fan motor covering 1/8 to 1/12 horsepower at 1075 RPM on a 230 volt supply, for outdoor fan applications in small condensing units.

Motors in this horsepower range serve small condensing units, refrigeration condensers, and compact outdoor sections where the coil area is modest and the fan load correspondingly light.

The multi-horsepower winding covers two OEM ratings from one part number, with output following the selected tap. In this size class that consolidation is particularly useful, because small fractional motors span many closely spaced ratings and stocking each individually is impractical.

Small condenser fan motors are frequently overlooked during maintenance precisely because they are small, but their failure has the same consequence as a larger one: airflow across the condenser stops, head pressure rises, and the compressor operates in a condition it cannot sustain. On refrigeration equipment the result may be product loss before anyone notices.

The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor of the specified value.
