All-Source HOBEW-609 Pocket Welding Guide 32nd Edition 164 pages

The HOBEW-609 is a Pocket Welding Guide, 32nd Edition, 164 pages, in a 4 inch by 7 inch format.

A reference in the 32nd edition has earned its place, and that is the honest argument for it. This is a title that has been revised and reissued for decades because welders keep buying it — which tells you more than any description of its contents.

The 4 x 7 inch format is the specification that makes it useful. Welding information exists in abundance in thick handbooks and online, and neither is any use to a welder standing at a machine trying to remember an electrode's amperage range, a joint preparation, a symbol on a drawing, or a filler metal designation. A guide that fits in a shirt pocket or a welding jacket is a guide that is there at the moment the question comes up.

That is a genuine advantage over a phone in many welding environments, where a device is either not permitted, not practical with gloves on, or not usable in the conditions.

At 164 pages it is a condensed reference rather than a textbook — the things a working welder needs to look up, without the material they do not.

Applications include fabrication shops, field welding, pipeline and structural work, maintenance welding, and welder training.

Users include welders, fabricators, apprentices, inspectors, and vocational programs.
