Product Highlights
Description
The Milwaukee MIL49-59-1812 is an annular cutter, 1 inch cutting depth, 1-13/16 inch cutting diameter, 2.358 inch long, high speed steel, minimum chuck size 3/4 inch.
Note a data conflict before anything else: the source lists this as bit type "Hole Saw" and hole saw type "Sheet Metal." An annular cutter is not a hole saw, and it is not a sheet metal tool. Those fields need correcting.
What an annular cutter actually is: a cutting tool for a magnetic drill, used on structural steel and plate. It cuts only the ring of material at the hole's edge and leaves the centre as a solid slug, which is ejected when the cut completes. That is the whole point — it removes far less metal than a twist drill, which means far less power, far less heat, and far less time for the same hole. A 1-13/16 inch hole with a twist drill is an ordeal; with an annular cutter it is routine.
The 3/4 inch minimum chuck refers to the Weldon shank — the flat-sided shank that a mag drill's arbor grips with set screws. It does not fit a drill chuck.
The 1 inch cutting depth is the maximum plate thickness it will pass through.
Applications include structural steel, plate, and fabrication with a magnetic drill.
