DeWalt DEWDWE43114N Small Angle Grinder High Power 4-1/2" to 5"

The DeWalt DEWDWE43114N is a small angle grinder taking 4-1/2 inch to 5 inch wheels, in a high power configuration.

The dual 4-1/2 inch and 5 inch wheel capacity is a practical specification rather than a marketing one. A grinder that accepts both sizes lets a shop standardise on one tool while buying whichever wheel suits the job — 4-1/2 inch for control and access, 5 inch for a little more reach and coverage. It also means the tool remains useful when the store runs out of one size, which is a real consideration in a working shop.

The N suffix in DeWalt's grinder range denotes a non-Lock-On trigger, and that is worth confirming before ordering. A grinder without Lock-On functions as a true dead man's control: release the paddle and the tool stops immediately, including if it is dropped or snatched from the operator's grip. Many industrial sites, refineries, and shipyards mandate this configuration and will turn away a Lock-On tool.

The high power designation positions this above a trade-level grinder, intended for sustained work rather than intermittent use.

Applications include weld dressing, cutting, surface preparation, deburring, and general fabrication and maintenance.

Users include welders, fabricators, structural steel crews, shipyards, and maintenance departments.

Always fit and use the side handle and the guard, and verify that any wheel's rated speed meets or exceeds the grinder's no-load speed before mounting.
