Product Highlights
Description
The DeWalt DEWDW5470 is a 5-piece Rock Carbide™ SDS+ hammer bit set, priced per each and sold in quantities of 5 only.
A set rather than a single bit is what a working installer actually needs, because anchor drilling is dictated by the fixing rather than by preference. Every anchor, sleeve, and threaded insert specifies a hole diameter, and using the nearest bit to hand instead of the specified one is how anchors fail to reach their rated load. Carrying the range means the correct hole gets drilled.
SDS+ is the shank standard, and it is a mechanical requirement rather than a fitment convenience. An SDS bit floats axially in the tool so the rotary hammer's piston can strike the back of the bit directly while it rotates. A chucked bit cannot receive that blow — the chuck absorbs it — which is why a hammer drill with a standard bit makes noise in concrete and an SDS rotary hammer makes progress.
Carbide tipping is what survives the material. Concrete aggregate is harder than steel, so a high speed steel bit is abraded away within a few holes; a carbide tip fractures the aggregate instead.
Note the packaging: priced per each and sold in quantities of 5 only.
Applications include anchor installation, concrete and masonry drilling, structural fixings, and electrical and mechanical installation work.
