DeWalt DEWDWE43244N Angle Grinder Brushless Paddle Switch 5-Inch/6-Inch 13 Amp

The DeWalt DEWDWE43244N is an angle grinder with a brushless motor and paddle switch, in a no lock configuration with a kickback brake, taking 5 inch and 6 inch wheels and drawing 13 amps. It includes a side handle, hex key, inner and outer flange, a 6 inch Type 27 guard, and a Type 1 guard.

The kickback brake is the specification that matters most here. Kickback occurs when a wheel binds in a cut and the tool is thrown violently — it is the primary injury mechanism on an angle grinder, and it happens faster than a human reaction. A kickback brake detects the sudden rotational event and stops the wheel, which turns an incident into a startle rather than a laceration. On a 13 amp, 6 inch grinder with real torque behind it, this is a meaningful feature rather than a specification sheet entry.

The brushless motor delivers more of its input as work rather than heat and extends motor life, since there are no brushes to wear or replace.

The included guards cover both operations honestly: a Type 27 guard for depressed-centre grinding wheels, and a Type 1 guard for cut-off wheels. These are not interchangeable, and using a grinding guard for cutting leaves the wheel dangerously exposed. Supplying both means the tool can be configured correctly for each job.

The no lock configuration keeps the paddle as a true dead man's control.

Applications include weld dressing, cutting, and heavy fabrication in structural steel, shipyards, and maintenance.
