Product Highlights
Description
The Milwaukee MIL48-40-0726 is a circular saw blade, 7-1/4 inch diameter, 40 teeth, 10 mm arbor, 0.041 inch plate thickness, 0.063 inch kerf, 8,000 RPM speed rating, cobalt infused tungsten carbide, ATB grind.
Note the arbor first, because it is the thing that will cause returns: 10 mm, where the standard 7-1/4 inch blade arbor in North America is 5/8 inch. Ten millimetres is a metric arbor used on certain cordless saws, and it will not fit a conventional 5/8 inch spindle. Confirm the saw before ordering — this is not the general-purpose 7-1/4 inch blade.
Forty teeth is the specification that defines the cut. Tooth count trades speed for finish: a 24 tooth blade rips framing fast and rough; 40 teeth cut slower and leave an edge that can be left visible. That makes this the finish blade — for plywood, trim, sheet goods, and anything where tearout matters.
The reasoning is chip size. Fewer teeth means larger gullets carrying big chips, which is fast and violent. More teeth take smaller bites, which is slower and gentler on the fibres.
Kerf and plate read together: a 0.041 inch plate with a 0.063 inch kerf means the teeth cut wider than the body, which is what stops the plate binding.
ATB is alternate top bevel — teeth bevelled alternately, slicing fibres cleanly rather than chiselling.
Applications include plywood, trim, and finish carpentry.
