T27 is the size and Torx sizing deserves attention because it is the specification that gets guessed at.

Torx works by driving on flats rather than on tapered flanks. A Phillips drive is designed to cam out — that is deliberate, from an era before clutches, and it is why Phillips screws chew up. Torx does not cam out: the driver seats fully and the torque goes into the fastener rather than pushing the bit out of the recess. That is why decking, structural, and equipment fasteners moved to it.

The catch is that the same property makes size critical. A slightly undersized Torx bit will enter the recess and it will round both the bit and the fastener out under load, because there is no taper to wedge and take the load. T25 and T27 look nearly identical in the hand and are not interchangeable.

The other rule: seat the bit fully and start slowly. Torx tolerates no partial engagement.

Impact rated means the bit is built to absorb the torsional shock an impact driver delivers thousands of times a minute. Standard bits shatter under it.
