The Milwaukee MIL48-20-3967 is an MX4 4-cutter SDS MAX rotary hammer drill bit, 1-1/8 inch, 31 inch usable length, 36 inch overall, 1 per pack.

The 4-cutter head is the specification and it does two things a 2-cutter does not.

A conventional bit has two carbide cutting edges across a tip. A 4-cutter adds a second pair, which means more carbide meeting the concrete and — critically — no long unsupported span across the tip. That matters when the bit meets rebar. A 2-cutter bit hitting rebar tends to grab, deflect, and walk off line, or lose its tip. A 4-cutter head contacts more evenly and is far more likely to survive and stay on line.

That is why 4-cutters are specified for reinforced concrete rather than plain.

SDS MAX is the shank system, and it is the large one — for heavy rotary hammers, not the SDS Plus tools. The two are not interchangeable. The shank does not clamp; it slides in splines and is retained loosely, which is what lets the piston mechanism hammer the bit directly rather than through a chuck.

At 36 inches overall with 31 usable, this is a long bit for through-holes in thick structure.

Applications include reinforced concrete, structural anchoring, and through-penetrations.
