Milwaukee MIL48-11-1865 M18TM Redlithiumtm XC6.0 Battery Pack

The Milwaukee MIL48-11-1865 is an M18 REDLITHIUM XC6.0 battery pack.

Note that this catalogue also lists an XC6.0 pack supplied as a 2-pack. This listing appears to be the single. Confirm quantity before ordering — it is an easy and expensive mistake on a line where the packs cost more than many of the tools.

At 6.0Ah this is a high capacity pack. Amp-hours are the specification, and they buy two things.

Runtime is the obvious one. Current delivery is the one that matters more. A high-drain tool — a circular saw, a grinder, a large impact wrench — pulls hard, and a pack with fewer cells delivers that current through more internal resistance. The consequences are heat and voltage sag: the tool feels weaker than it is, and the pack gets hot. Heat is what permanently degrades lithium cells, so a small pack on a demanding tool is being damaged every time it is used. More cells share the load, run cooler, and last.

So pack selection follows the tool rather than the desired runtime. Compact packs suit drills and lights; XC packs suit anything with a real motor load.

Store lithium packs around half charge, at moderate temperature, and off a hot tool.

Applications include saws, grinders, and high-demand M18 tools.
