Milwaukee MIL48-11-1862 M18TM Redlithiumtm XC6.0 Battery Pack

The Milwaukee MIL48-11-1862 is an M18 REDLITHIUM XC6.0 battery pack, 2-pack.

The two-pack is the specification worth noticing, and it reflects how cordless tools are actually used rather than how they are sold.

One battery is not a working configuration. A single pack means the tool stops when the pack does, and the operator stands at a charger. Two packs means one is always charging while the other is working, and the tool never stops — which is the entire point of cordless.

Anyone who has worked a day with one battery understands. Anyone who has worked a day with two does not think about batteries at all.

At 6.0Ah these are high capacity packs. Amp-hours buy runtime, and — more importantly — current delivery. A high-drain tool pulls hard, and a pack with fewer cells delivers that current through more internal resistance, producing heat and voltage sag. The tool feels weak and the pack degrades. More cells share the load, run cooler, and last longer.

So a 6.0 pack is not merely a longer-running 2.0 pack; it is the correct pack for tools with real motor loads.

Lithium packs keep best stored around half charge, at moderate temperature, and off a hot tool.

Applications include saws, grinders, and high-demand M18 tools.
