Product Highlights
Description
The Milwaukee MIL48-00-5782 is a SUPER SAWZALL TORCH reciprocating saw blade — bi-metal demolition blade with a sloped profile for plunge cutting, 1/2 inch universal tang fitting all Sawzalls, for pipe, conduit, angle iron, steel and other hard materials, 6 inch long by 1 inch high, 14 TPI, 5 per pack.
The sloped profile is the specification and it is what makes plunge cutting possible. A conventional recip blade has a squared nose, and a square nose against a flat surface just skitters — there is nothing to start the cut. A sloped or angled nose presents a point, so the blade can be tipped into the surface and worked in until the teeth engage properly.
That matters because plunge cutting is how a recip saw starts a cut in the middle of something — a wall, a panel, a tank — where there is no edge to begin from.
The 1 inch height is the other half of the demolition specification. A tall blade is a stiff blade, and stiffness is what a demolition blade needs: it gets levered, twisted, and used as a pry bar, and a narrow blade snaps doing that.
The 1/2 inch universal tang is a compatibility note worth having — recip saw tangs are standardised, which means this fits essentially any brand of saw, not only Milwaukee's.
Fourteen TPI needs material roughly a quarter inch and up to keep three teeth engaged.
Applications include demolition, pipe, conduit, and structural cutting.
