Product Highlights
Description
The Milwaukee MIL48-00-5027 is a reciprocating saw blade, bi-metal, 12 inch long, 1 inch wide, 60 teeth, 5 TPI, for wood, 0.062 inch thick, 5 pack.
Five teeth per inch is coarse, and coarse is what wood cutting wants. Tooth count follows material for a simple reason: each tooth must have room to hold the chip it cuts until it exits the material. Wood produces large chips. A fine-toothed blade in wood fills its gullets within an inch, and once packed, the teeth are riding on their own sawdust rather than cutting. It stops, it heats, it burns.
Five TPI gives gullets large enough to carry the chip out.
The 0.062 inch thickness is the other specification worth noting, and it is substantially heavier than the 0.035 inch blades elsewhere in this range. Thickness is stiffness: a thick blade wanders less, resists bending, and survives being levered — which is exactly what happens in demolition, where the saw gets used as a pry bar as often as a saw.
At 12 inches with a 1 inch depth this is a long, deep blade — for beams, timber, and heavy sectioning rather than access work.
Bi-metal construction bonds a high speed steel tooth edge to a tough spring steel body: hard teeth on a body that bends without snapping. That combination is why bi-metal dominates recip blades.
Applications include demolition, framing, and timber.
