Product Highlights
Description
The Milwaukee MIL48-00-1450 is a reciprocating saw blade, diamond, 9 inch long, 1 inch wide, multi-material, 0.042 inch thick, made in the United States.
A diamond blade has no teeth, and that is the whole point. Instead of a toothed edge it carries diamond grit bonded to the cutting edge, and it works by abrading rather than cutting.
That difference is what lets it handle materials that destroy toothed blades. Cast iron chips teeth. Tile, masonry, and fibre cement dull them within inches. Fibreglass and composites shred them. Hardened material simply breaks them. A grit edge has nothing to chip — it wears down instead, gradually, and keeps cutting the whole time.
The trade is speed and heat. Abrading is slow compared to cutting, and it generates real heat. A diamond recip blade in wood is a bad joke; in cast iron pipe it is the tool.
The multi-material designation is honest here rather than a marketing claim: a grit edge genuinely does not care what it is against, because it does not have a tooth geometry optimised for anything.
At 9 inches this is a general working length for pipe and demolition access.
Applications include cast iron pipe, tile and masonry, fibre cement, fibreglass, and mixed demolition where the blade will meet anything.
Users include plumbers, remediation crews, and demolition contractors.
