The Milwaukee MIL2904-22 is an M18 FUEL 1/2 inch hammer drill/driver kit, including two M18 REDLITHIUM XC 5.0Ah battery packs, an M18 and M12 multi-voltage charger, a side handle, and a blow-moulded case.

The hammer function is worth understanding because it is frequently misunderstood. A hammer drill adds a rapid forward percussion to the rotation — the chuck moves in and out thousands of times a minute while turning. That percussion is what lets a masonry bit chip its way into brick, block, and concrete, since masonry is drilled by fracturing rather than cutting.

The limit is the important part. A hammer drill is for masonry, and for masonry within reason: brick, block, mortar, and small holes in concrete. Large holes and structural concrete need an SDS rotary hammer, which uses a piston mechanism delivering vastly more energy per blow. Trying to do a rotary hammer's work with a hammer drill is slow and it ruins the drill.

The side handle is not an accessory. A 1/2 inch drill that grabs will break a wrist, and the handle is what gives the leverage to hold it. It should be fitted whenever a large bit is used.
