The two-speed gearbox is the specification that matters most and it is frequently ignored. Low speed at 0-350 RPM multiplies torque; high speed at 0-1,400 RPM does not. Those are not preferences — they are different jobs. Driving a large fastener or a spade bit in low gear works; the same job in high gear stalls the motor and cooks it. Drilling a small pilot hole in low gear is needlessly slow.

The spindle lock is the small feature that earns its place: it holds the chuck so bits can be changed one-handed.

Note that this catalogue lists another 2606 with a stated max of 1,800 RPM against this one's 1,400. Verify before publishing.
