The Milwaukee MIL2520-20 is an M12 FUEL Hackzall reciprocating saw, tool only.

The Hackzall is a one-handed reciprocating saw and that single design decision is what defines it. A conventional recip saw needs two hands — one on the trigger, one on the shoe — because the reciprocating mass produces real vibration and the tool will walk. A one-handed saw is counterbalanced to control that.

Why it matters is access. A tradesperson on a ladder has one hand for the ladder. Someone in a ceiling void has one hand steadying themselves and one hand for the tool. Anyone cutting a pipe in a wall cavity is holding the pipe. A two-handed saw simply cannot be used in those positions, which is where a great deal of remedial and service work happens.

The trade is honest: less power and less stroke than a full-size Sawzall. This is a tool for conduit, pipe, small stock, and access work, not for demolition.

FUEL is Milwaukee's brushless designation — a brushless motor delivers more runtime from the same battery and lasts longer, since there are no brushes to wear.

Tool only means no battery or charger. That is the correct purchase for anyone already on the M12 platform and a trap for anyone who is not.
