Metal Zinc Plenum R6 20X25X24

The Metal Zinc 20X25X24 is a 20 by 25 by 24 inch insulated plenum with R-6 insulation, for furnace and air handler connections.

The 20 by 25 inch cross section suits larger residential equipment, while the 24 inch height accommodates installations where vertical space is restricted, such as low headroom basements, attics under a shallow roof, and closets with a soffit above.

Combining a large cross section with a short height requires attention to takeoff placement. Air leaving the blower enters at high velocity and needs distance to distribute across the plenum before reaching the branches, and in a short plenum that distance is not available. Takeoffs positioned directly in line with the blower discharge will draw a disproportionate share of the air while others are starved. Positioning takeoffs thoughtfully and providing balancing dampers is what makes such a system adjustable.

R-6 insulation reduces thermal loss, keeps the plenum exterior above dew point in cooling operation so condensation does not form on the surface, and absorbs blower noise at its source.

Seal the equipment connection and all seams with mastic or approved tape. As the highest pressure point in the supply system, the plenum is where leakage costs the most.

Applications include residential and light commercial furnaces, air handlers, and fan coils.
