Metal Zinc Plenum 13X19X36 R6

The Metal Zinc 13X19X36 R6 is a 13 by 19 by 36 inch insulated plenum with R-6 insulation, for connection to smaller furnaces and air handlers.

The compact 13 by 19 inch cross section suits smaller capacity equipment and installations in confined spaces such as closets, alcoves, and tight mechanical rooms, where a larger plenum simply will not fit.

Confined installations make sealing and insulation more important rather than less. A plenum in a closet is surrounded by finished surfaces, and a sweating plenum will damage them; a leaking plenum discharges conditioned air into a space where it does no useful work, and on the return side draws air from the closet rather than from the conditioned rooms. In an equipment closet containing a fuel burning appliance, a leaking return is a combustion safety concern as well, since it can draw combustion products into the supply air.

R-6 insulation reduces thermal loss and keeps the exterior surface above dew point during cooling operation, preventing condensation. It also absorbs blower noise, which matters particularly when the equipment is inside the living space.

Confirm the equipment outlet dimensions before ordering, seal the equipment connection and all seams with mastic or approved tape, and provide the service clearances the equipment requires.
