The Metal Zinc 30X21X36 R6 is a 30 by 21 by 36 inch insulated plenum with R-6 insulation, the largest in this range, for high capacity furnaces and air handlers.

A 30 inch wide plenum indicates substantial equipment, typically large residential or light commercial furnaces and air handlers moving airflow well above the residential norm. At those airflows, plenum sizing is a genuine design parameter rather than a matter of matching the cabinet.

The wide cross section keeps plenum velocity moderate at high airflow, which limits static pressure, reduces generated noise, and makes distribution to the takeoffs more even. It also provides more face area for branch connections, which matters on a system with numerous trunk runs.

The 36 inch height gives the air leaving the blower room to develop across the cross section before it reaches the takeoffs, which is what makes a multi-branch system balanceable.

R-6 insulation reduces thermal loss, prevents condensation on the exterior during cooling operation, and absorbs blower noise. On larger equipment there is more noise to absorb, and the plenum is where it is most effectively treated.
