Little Giant VCMA-20ULS Condenser Pump 115V 554425

The Little Giant 554425 is a VCMA-20ULS condensate pump operating on 115 volts with an integral safety switch.

Electrical supply for a condensate pump requires a little thought, because a pump powered from the wrong point provides less protection than expected.

The pump must remain powered whenever the equipment can produce condensate. Where a pump is supplied from a circuit that is switched with the equipment, and the equipment is shut down by its own safety circuit or a thermostat, condensate remaining in the pan still has to be handled. In practice this matters most where the pump also serves a dehumidifier or refrigeration equipment operating independently of the cooling season.

The supply should also be on a circuit that will not be casually switched off. Pumps supplied from a convenience outlet that a homeowner later uses for something else, or that shares a switched circuit with lighting, will eventually be unpowered when they are needed.

Voltage must match the pump. This range is supplied in both 115 and 230 volt versions, and the model numbers are similar enough that verification is worthwhile.

Confirm voltage, flow rate at the required lift, tank capacity, and inlet configuration. Wire the safety switch into the equipment control circuit, level and secure the pump, and verify operation of both the pump and the interlock.
