DiversiTech Condensate Drain Line 230-DL16-20

The DiversiTech 230-DL16-20 is a condensate drain line, supplied as tubing for connecting air handling equipment to a drainage point.

Condensate drain installation follows a few rules, and most drainage failures trace back to one of them being broken.

Slope is the first. The line must fall continuously toward the discharge point, and a common figure is a minimum of an eighth of an inch per foot. A line with a sag holds water, and standing water in a drain line is where biological growth establishes first.

Sizing is the second. The line must be at least as large as the equipment connection, and reducing it anywhere along the run creates a restriction that will block.

Trapping is the third and the most misunderstood. A drain connected to a section of the unit under negative pressure needs a trap deep enough to hold against that pressure. Without an adequate trap the blower pulls air backward through the drain line and water does not flow, which produces a pan that overflows while the line itself is completely clear.

Cleanouts and terminations complete the installation. A cleanout at the equipment allows the line to be cleared, and the termination must be positioned where discharge will not cause damage.

Confirm the tubing size and material suit the application, support the run adequately, and test drainage by pouring water into the pan.
