The Jackson Safety JKS29090 is an F30 visor face shield, acetate, dark green, shape D, 9 inch high, 15-1/2 inch wide, 0.04 inch thick.

Dark green is the tint and it does a specific job: it cuts glare and visible brightness. That suits work around bright light sources, hot metal, and outdoor glare, where a clear shield leaves the wearer squinting — and a squinting worker is one who eventually lifts the shield.

An important caution belongs on a tinted shield with no stated shade number. A tint is not a filter rating. Dark green reduces brightness; it does not certify a level of infrared or ultraviolet protection the way a rated IRUV shade does. For gas cutting, foundry, or any process with genuine radiant energy, a shade-rated shield — the IRUV F50 series — is what the job requires. A tinted shield used where a shade is needed is worse than a clear one, because it feels adequate.

Acetate is the material and it is chosen for chemical resistance rather than impact. Solvents that craze polycarbonate do not attack it. The trade is lower impact resistance, so fragment hazards belong to the polycarbonate F20.

The 9 inch height gives an inch more coverage than the F20 shields.

A face shield is secondary protection — eye protection goes underneath.
