The Fibre-Metal FIB1CP is Pipeliner headgear with an elastic rubber neoprene strap, for the 110P welding helmet.

This is a replacement part, and it is worth understanding why it is one that gets replaced. The headband on a welding helmet is a consumable in a way the shell is not: it holds sweat, it takes UV and heat, it stretches under constant use, and it is the component that eventually stops holding the helmet where the welder puts it. A shell will outlive several headbands.

The rubber neoprene strap is a deliberate specification rather than a cheap one. Pipeline welding is done in positions that a rigid ratchet suspension does not cope with — head back, head sideways, working up into a joint from below in a bell hole. An elastic strap grips the head and stays put through those movements, where a ratchet suspension shifts and the helmet moves relative to the eye. It also lets the welder snap the helmet up and down by feel.

Neoprene resists the heat, sweat, and UV exposure that destroy ordinary elastic.
