Product Highlights
Description
The Jackson Safety JKS29087 is an F20 visor face shield, polycarbonate, clear, shape B, 8 inch high, 15-1/2 inch wide, 0.06 inch thick.
This is the F20 in the heavier 0.06 inch gauge, against the 0.04 inch version elsewhere in the range — and the thickness is the decision. Thicker resists impact better and weighs more. That trade should be made on the hazard rather than on price: heavy grinding, chipping, and anywhere fragments carry real energy justify the heavier visor. Light work where the shield is worn all shift benefits from the lighter one.
F20 is Jackson's polycarbonate series and polycarbonate is the impact material — the reason face shields exist at all. It stops grinding wheel fragments, chips, and snapped wire in a way acetate and glass do not.
The limitation is chemical. Solvents craze polycarbonate, and a crazed shield has lost the impact resistance it was bought for. Chemical work needs the acetate F30; mixed hazards need the propionate F40.
The shape designation refers to the visor's cut and mounting geometry — confirm it matches your headgear before ordering, since shapes are not interchangeable.
A face shield is secondary protection. Safety glasses are worn underneath it, always — the shield takes the fragment, the glasses take what gets around it.
Applications include grinding, chipping, machining, and general industrial work.
