The Jackson Safety JKS29079 is an F30 visor face shield, acetate, clear, shape D, 9 inch high, 15-1/2 inch wide, 0.04 inch thick.

Acetate is the specification and it is the entire reason the F30 series exists alongside the polycarbonate F20. The two materials are chosen for opposite hazards, and getting it wrong is common.

Polycarbonate is the impact material — it stops grinding fragments and chips. But many solvents attack it, causing crazing that destroys the impact resistance it was chosen for. Acetate is the reverse: it has far better chemical resistance, which makes it the correct material for chemical handling, splash hazards, and laboratory work, at the cost of lower impact resistance than polycarbonate.

So the rule is: fragments get polycarbonate, chemicals get acetate. A shop that buys one shield for everything gets it wrong half the time.

Note the height: 9 inches here against 8 inches for the F20 shields. That extra inch is real coverage at the chin and throat — which matters more for splash, since liquid runs down.

The 0.04 inch thickness is the lighter gauge in the range.

A face shield is secondary protection. Safety glasses — or goggles, for splash — go underneath.
