The Jackson Safety JKS29062 is an F20 visor face shield, polycarbonate, clear, shape T, 8 inch high, 15-1/2 inch wide, 0.04 inch thick.
The 0.04 inch thickness is the specification worth reading, because this range offers both 0.04 and 0.06. Thinner means lighter and cheaper; thicker means more impact resistance and more weight. That is a real trade rather than a good-better hierarchy, and it should be made on the hazard. Light-duty work where the shield is worn all day benefits from the lighter visor; heavy grinding does not.
The F20 designation is Jackson's polycarbonate series, and polycarbonate is the material for impact. It is exceptionally resistant to flying fragments — grinding wheel debris, chips, snapped wire — which is why it is the default for face protection.
What polycarbonate does not tolerate is solvents. Many chemicals craze it, which destroys the impact resistance that justified choosing it in the first place. Chemical splash work needs the acetate F30 series instead. Choosing on impact alone is how a shield ends up crazed and unsafe within a month.
The shape designation refers to the visor's cut and mounting geometry — confirm it matches your headgear.
A face shield is secondary protection. Safety glasses are worn underneath it, always.
Applications include grinding, machining, and general industrial work.
