The Jackson Safety JKS26262 is an F50 visor face shield, polycarbonate, IRUV 3.0, shape B, 8 inch high, 15-1/2 inch wide, 0.06 inch thick.

The IRUV 3.0 designation is the specification: this is a shade 3 filtering visor blocking infrared and ultraviolet. That places it in a specific and often-neglected category — protection against radiant energy rather than flying fragments.

Shade 3 is a light filter. It is not a welding shade and must never be used for one. What it is for is the work that sits between clear and welding: furnace and oven operation, molten metal handling, pouring, glass work, and any process where a worker faces sustained radiant heat and glare. That work produces enough IR to damage eyes over time and enough glare to make the job hard, but nothing like an arc.

Being clear about the boundary matters: arc welding needs shade 9 to 13, gas cutting needs shade 5, and this is neither.

The 0.06 inch thickness is the heavier of the two gauges in this range, which suits the impact and heat exposure of foundry work.

Polycarbonate gives the impact resistance. It is poor against solvents, which craze it.

A face shield is secondary protection — safety glasses go underneath, always.
