Jackson Safety JKS15973 Hard Hat Adapter 386

The Jackson Safety JKS15973 is a hard hat adapter, model 386, supplied 12 per case.

An adapter is the component that lets a face shield or welding helmet mount to a hard hat, and the reason it exists is that head and face protection otherwise compete for the same space. A hard hat and separate face shield headgear both want to sit on the head, and the predictable outcome is a wearer choosing one — usually whichever the supervisor is looking for. An adapter makes them one system.

The 12 per case quantity is the notable specification and it identifies the buyer. Adapters are bought in cases by facilities kitting out crews, not by individuals — which reflects how they are consumed. An adapter is a wearing part: it is a plastic or metal bracket carrying a pivot, and it takes heat, impact, and constant flipping. It breaks, and when it breaks the shield stops mounting.

Buying by the case is the practical response to that. A stores cupboard with adapters in it means a broken one is a two-minute fix rather than a reason to work without a shield.

Confirm the 386 fits your hard hats and your shields — the adapter must match at both ends, and slotted and non-slotted hats take different parts.

Applications include grinding, welding, chipping, and general industrial work.
