Product Highlights
Description
The Jackson Safety JKS14956 is model 170 welding headgear.
The 170 is Jackson's ratchet suspension headgear and it is the standard-tier option in their range — the workhorse rather than the premium unit. It uses a ratchet size adjustment system, which is the feature that matters day to day: it sizes in a second, one-handed, with gloves on. Headgear that requires two hands and a threaded knob gets set once by whoever wore it last and then tolerated.
Reading the 170 against Jackson's 370 Speed Dial headgear tells you where each belongs. The 370 adds an oversized adjuster knob, adjustable sliders, a patented quick-fit rear swivel headband, and a positive lock that holds the hood up or down. The 170 is a straightforward ratchet. For a welder in a hood all shift, the 370's features earn their cost; for occasional use or crew equipment, the 170 does the job for less.
Headgear is a consumable and this is why it is stocked separately. It holds sweat, takes UV and radiant heat every time an arc strikes, and the plastic embrittles. A worn suspension is the reason a helmet stops holding position.
Jackson headgear is not interchangeable across all shells — confirm compatibility before ordering.
