Jackson Safety JKS14947 Face Shield Adapter Plastic Black Slotted

The Jackson Safety JKS14947 is a face shield adapter in plastic, black crown, slotted bracket type.

This is the plastic, slotted adapter — and reading it against the aluminium versions in the range shows how the category is organised. The material is chosen by environment, and the bracket type is chosen by the hat.

Plastic is correct for the majority of industrial work: it is light, it is cheap enough to replace without argument, and critically it is non-conductive. That last property is why electrical work specifies plastic components on head protection rather than metal. What plastic will not tolerate is sustained radiant heat — foundry, forge, and heavy welding environments soften and distort it, and a distorted adapter no longer holds the shield where it should. Those environments take aluminium.

Slotted refers to the hard hat. Slotted hats have the rectangular accessory openings moulded into each side; non-slotted hats do not. An adapter built for one will not fit the other, and there is no adapting between them. This requires a slotted hat.

That is a decision made by inspecting your hats, not by reading a catalogue — and a site with mixed hats needs both types stocked.

Applications include grinding, machining, chipping, electrical work, and general industrial operations.

Verify both hat configuration and shield compatibility before ordering.
