Hart & Cooley Supply Register 682M 14X6 703914 White Metal Handle

The Hart & Cooley 703914 is a 682M series supply register measuring 14 by 6 inches nominal, with two way deflection and a metal damper handle, finished in white.

Floor registers, which is a common application for this size and proportion, present considerations that wall and ceiling outlets do not. They are walked on, so the face must carry foot traffic without deflecting. They collect whatever falls on the floor, and the duct boot beneath a floor register accumulates dust, small objects, and in kitchens food debris. And in rooms where furniture is arranged against walls, they are frequently covered.

A covered floor register is a genuine problem rather than a cosmetic one. Blocking outlets raises system static pressure and reduces total airflow, and blocking several has a measurable effect on the equipment. Rugs laid over floor registers and furniture placed across them are among the more common causes of unexplained comfort complaints.

Periodic removal of floor registers to clean the boot beneath is worthwhile maintenance, and frequently reveals a surprising quantity of accumulated material.

The metal damper handle resists breakage better than plastic in a location subject to foot traffic.

Applications include residential and light commercial supply air outlets in floors, walls, and ceilings.
