Hart & Cooley FPD3 R6 14 064338 White Steel Diffuser

The Hart & Cooley 64338 is an FPD3 series steel lay-in ceiling diffuser with a 14 inch round neck and integral R-6 insulated back, finished in white, for a 24 by 24 inch T-bar grid module.

At 14 inches this is the largest neck in the series, delivering the highest airflow available from a single 24 by 24 inch outlet. It is specified where ceiling positions are limited relative to the load, in large open areas, assembly spaces, high occupancy rooms, and spaces with substantial equipment or solar gain.

A neck this large in a standard grid module represents a high air volume through a fixed face area, and the design consequences follow from that. Discharge velocity, throw, and generated sound are all at the upper end of the series, and each should be verified against the manufacturer's published data for the actual design airflow rather than assumed. A 14 inch diffuser operating near the top of its range in a room with tight acoustic criteria or limited throw distance will not perform acceptably.

The R-6 insulated back is correspondingly important at this size, both because the pan carries a large volume of cool air below the plenum dew point and because there is more duct borne noise to attenuate.

Applications include commercial offices, retail, education, healthcare, and assembly occupancies. Support the assembly independently of the ceiling grid and seal the duct connection thoroughly.
