The Hart & Cooley 64337 is an FPD3 series steel lay-in ceiling diffuser with a 12 inch round neck and integral R-6 insulated back, finished in white, for a 24 by 24 inch T-bar grid module.

A 12 inch neck delivers high airflow through a single 24 by 24 inch outlet, specified where a large volume must be supplied from a limited number of ceiling positions. Open plan floors, large retail areas, assembly spaces, and rooms with high internal or solar gain are typical applications.

At this airflow, three factors warrant verification against published performance data rather than estimation. Generated sound rises steeply with discharge velocity and can become audible in spaces with tight background noise criteria. Throw at design airflow is considerable, and in an undersized room the air stream arrives at the far wall with meaningful velocity, producing draughts. And the pan carries a large volume of cool air, making the R-6 insulation important both for condensation control and for attenuating the duct borne noise associated with higher velocities.

Where the ceiling layout permits, distributing the same total airflow across more diffusers with smaller necks generally produces a quieter and more evenly conditioned space than concentrating it in fewer large outlets.
