Hart & Cooley 821 12X8 075013 White Vertical Supply

The Hart & Cooley 75013 is an 821 series vertical supply register measuring 12 by 8 inches nominal, finished in white.

The 821 series presents vertical face bars, which direct supply air horizontally to left and right rather than up and down. That orientation suits particular positions, notably registers in a sidewall where the air should be spread across the width of the room rather than thrown toward the ceiling or the floor.

Bar orientation is a design choice with a practical consequence. Air directed upward from a sidewall register adheres to the ceiling and travels well into the room before dropping, which is generally desirable in cooling. Air directed downward falls into the occupied zone quickly, which suits heating but produces draughts in cooling. Air spread horizontally distributes across the wall's width.

Which is correct depends on the room, the register's height, and whether the system's dominant duty is heating or cooling. In practice, registers with adjustable bars allow the pattern to be set after observing the actual air movement, which is more reliable than predicting it.

At 12 by 8 inches the register carries a moderate supply airflow.

Applications include residential and light commercial sidewall supply outlets.
