The Hardcast 340294 is a one gallon container of CCWI-181 duct sealant in black.

Colour in duct sealants is largely a matter of appearance, and it matters in exposed installations.

Ductwork in finished spaces with exposed services, in retail and hospitality interiors, and in architecturally exposed structure is visible to occupants, and sealant colour is part of the finished appearance. Black sealant on black painted duct disappears; white sealant on the same duct does not.

There is a practical dimension as well. Colour makes it possible to see at a glance which joints have been sealed and which have not, and on a large installation that is genuinely useful during the work and during inspection. A contrasting colour is sometimes chosen deliberately for that reason during construction.
