ECCO B-Vent Pipe 590EL 5X90 Double Wall 210514

The ECCO 210514 is a 5 inch, 90 degree double wall Type B vent elbow, used where a 5 inch vent run must change direction sharply.

Five inch vent generally indicates a larger appliance or a common vent serving two appliances, and vent capacity in those installations is often closer to the limit than in a simple single appliance run. That makes the resistance added by fittings more consequential. The vent tables in the fuel gas code limit both the total lateral length and the number of offsets permitted for a given vent height and appliance input, and a run that fits the available space may still exceed what the sizing permits.

A 90 degree elbow adds more resistance than two 45 degree elbows achieving the same offset, so 45s should be used wherever the geometry allows. Where a 90 is genuinely required, typically turning from a horizontal connector into a vertical rise, it must be a listed elbow for the vent system.

The vent should rise continuously toward the termination. Level or downward sloping sections allow condensate to collect and flue products to stagnate, both of which lead to corrosion and poor draft.

Elbows engage adjacent sections with the same twist lock arrangement as straight lengths, and the listed clearance to combustibles applies at the fitting as throughout the run.

Applications include residential and light commercial gas appliance venting.
