ECCO B-Vent Pipe 490EL 4X90 Double Wall 200414

The ECCO 200414 is a 4 inch, 90 degree double wall Type B vent elbow, used where a vent run must change direction sharply.

A 90 degree elbow is the fitting of last resort in vent design rather than a routine component. It imposes more resistance than a pair of 45 degree elbows achieving the same offset, and the vent sizing tables in the fuel gas code limit the number of offsets and the total lateral length permitted for a given vent height and appliance input. A run with several 90s may fit the available space and still be outside the permitted configuration, which produces poor draft, condensation, and spillage at the draft hood.

Where a 90 is genuinely required, typically to turn from a horizontal connector into a vertical rise, or to clear structure that cannot be worked around, it is the correct part, and it must be a listed elbow for the vent system rather than an improvised fitting.

The vent should rise continuously toward the termination wherever possible. Sections that run level or slope downward allow condensate to accumulate.

Elbows engage adjacent sections with the same twist lock arrangement as straight lengths, and the listed clearance to combustibles applies at the elbow as throughout the run.

Applications include residential and light commercial venting of gas furnaces, boilers, and water heaters with draft hoods.
